Dru Yoga Teacher Training Course Information

International Qualification:

The Dru Yoga Diploma Course is taught in the UK, Canada, Australia & Netherlands, accredited by Yoga Alliance, the Independent Yoga Network and the Yoga Teachers Association of Australia.

We have new courses starting soon in:

  • Sydney (2020)
  • New Zealand (2020)

Timing:

Courses generally run from Thursday to Sunday. Times are from 9am to 6pm. Please note these dates can be subject to change. The courses will be non-residential.

Content:

During the first half of the course we introduce you to the foundations of DRU Yoga - the basic principles, postures, sequences, pranayama, meditation, anatomy and physiology.

Some communication and teaching skills are also introduced during this time. In the second half we continue to refine and develop your understanding of DRU Yoga and how it works, and also how to develop specific therapeutic programs for individuals according to their unique requirements.

We introduce new material and revisit aspects of posture work and sequences and take your understanding and experience of these to a deeper level. It is an experiential course. Download a Course Outline for weekends 1 to 4 here.

Homework and Continuous Assessment: There are two assignments given during the course as well as short continuous assessment tests on most modules. You will also be writing "portfolio sheets" on many of the practices as a personal learning experience.

Some Frequently Asked Questions about the Dru Yoga Teacher Training course

Travel

The Dru training is popular, with participants traveling from all over Australasia (including from WA, NT and NZ). We try to ensure that you have clear and easy travel suggestions to make your journey as easy as possible. Most of our courses have groups who arrange to travel together or meet up at airports - soon accompanied by all the warmth of great reunions.

Money

We have a scheme we call Earn as you Learn. It means you can choose to start teaching while halfway through your course, after an interim assessment. From this point on you can easily earn enough to pay more than 70% of your course costs, and an average teacher can then go on to completely recover all course payments within one to two years of graduating.

Already a teacher?

About 20% of people doing the Dru Yoga training course are already yoga teachers wishing to deepen their skills, particularly in yogas subtle energetics and body-mind benefits, as well as in the field of managing classroom energetics.

Time

The course is designed so you can fit it into your lifestyle. We have full time, busy professionals, single parents and students doing the course, as they find the practices help them manage their lives more successfully. We are always hearing from students how the course modules give them a rejuvenating break from their normal routine.

Most participants will spend an average of about 10-20 mins every day or so on their yoga practice. And perhaps its worth reflecting: if we are not willing to spend even this small amount of time nurturing ourselves, then maybe we should check our lives carefully to ensure we have our priorities right!

Coursework

The coursework you will do is mostly a reflection of your own practice. We try to make it as easy as possible for you!

Please give us a call 02 6161 1462

As we said above, talking with one of our enthusiastic volunteers is great fun. And more, since most of them have done the course themselves they will be able to tell you what the course is really like!

Earn as you learn

If you decided to teach 6 people ($15/class) at home for 3 x 10-week terms a year, during the last half of your course, and then 12 people in a hired hall for 18 months also in 3 x 10-week terms per year (at $18 each per class)… you’d completely cover all your course fees.
