What is Ashtanga Yoga?
Ashtanga yoga (also called Ashtanga Vinyasa yoga), is a yoga style developed by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois and T. Krishnamacharya in the 20th century. Jois and Krishnamacharya claim it originated from a system of Hatha yoga described in the "Yoga Korunta" and ancient text around 5000 years ago.
Ashtanga yoga is a dynamic, flowing style that aims to connect movement and breath through a series of sequences. The method promotes the importance of daily practice of a set series of movements. Ashtanga yoga consists of six series or sequences, which the student progresses through at their own pace.
