Simon Borg-Olivier MScBAppSc(Physiotherapy) APAM c-IAYT

Simon Borg-Olivier returns to Ihana for his next public Master class. This workshop always sells out so book now to secure your spot with this Internationally renowned yogi & teacher.

"A main aim of yoga is to access the unconscious in order to rewrite any unwanted programming that does not help our lives.

I think the main ways of accessing your unconscious are through four main access points as follows:

  •  Regulating the three main spinal reflexes
  •  Gaining control of the 12 bridges between conscious and unconscious
  •  Using techniques that regulate and control blood flow
  •  Balancing the inputs to left and right brain hemispheres so that it becomes possible to rewrite unwanted subconscious programming. “

Simon says that his aim is to use his enormous experience as a practitioner of yoga, teacher and physiotherapist to share the essence of real yoga, and not just the stretching, tensing, increasing heart rate and breathing exercises that are commonly taught under the guise of modern yoga and exercise. Simon refers to yoga to be the sharing of energy and loving information through your body as a model for your life. On a physiological level this means to improve bloodflow (and the function of your cardiovascular system) without making the heart race, and to improve the function of the parasympathetic nervous system that which promotes. This in turn can produce a reduced incidence of disease, greater internal health as well as improve the function of your digestive system, immune system, reproductive system, thus helping you to improve health well-being and longevity.

For many people practising modern yoga and exercise they’re not actually doing this. If when you stretch you feel the stretch this will promote a ‘flight or fight’ response (over-active sympathetic nervous system). If when you use your muscles you feel tension then you will also promote a ‘flight or fight response’. Similarly, If you need to increase heart rate to improve your circulation this will also be perceived by your unconscious body as a sign of stressful situations that you need me to deal with more importantly, than simply looking after yourself for long life.

In this workshop, Simon will show you simple, traditional, but rarely taught techniques that can help you to:

  • improve flexibility without feeling intense stretch
  • improve strength without feeling tense or stressed
  • become more relaxed without needing to be completely passive
  • improve your energy levels without having to breathe more than normal
  • promote circulation without needing to make your heart beat faster
  • improve the intelligence of your body cells without having to over-think
  • satiate your appetite and feel nourished without having to eat so much
  • feel rested and rejuvenated without having to sleep so much

These methods can be very complex to learn In their full form, but Simon will show you simple effective ways of developing practices which can give you the essence of being in yoga, or being in the zone, as some athletes might say, but without needing to take years to learn them.
