Description

Ihana Yoga is very excited to be hosting a new Post Graduate three-day workshop for teachers who are interested in developing or honing their skills in connecting with their students when teaching classes. Conscious Communication Skills for Teaching Yoga Classes is a unique program, specifically designed for yoga teachers, by experts in the field of face-to-face communication – who are also yoga teachers! This workshop will be highly participatory, uses real-world yoga class scenarios and will help you embody tried-and-true communication skills appropriate for all class sizes and situations. No matter what style, tradition or combination thereof you teach, this training will help you better serve and connect with your students, while still being authentically you. As a result of attending this you will: Understand what constitutes Effective and Conscious Communication for teaching a yoga class Have explored and practiced using appropriate and inclusive Languaging for your classes Have practiced specific Delivery Skills to create a connection with students throughout all yoga classes (as well as before and after) Be able to create a narrative to effectively support the structure and content of your yoga classes Know how to design yoga classes using inspirational and engaging Themes Be able to identify and handle difficult situations and questions that commonly arise in a yoga class environment About the teacher: Lucy has been leading training programs and coaching individuals in effective communication for nearly 30 years. Transitioning out of the corporate world in the early 2000’s she came to a regular and committed personal yoga journey and as such is passionate about the transformational value it can bring to a person’s life. Now she feels blessed to be sharing both her loves – Conscious Communication and Yoga! She has been leading Communication Skills training workshops for yoga teachers and therapists since 2012, both as part of yoga teacher and therapist training programs, as well as stand-alone programs offered by yoga studios in both Australia and the USA. She is the co-author of the book “CONNECTING - Conscious Communication for Yoga Teachers and Therapists”. Lucy Karnani passionately believes that Yoga is best received by students when they know they are safe, feel a high level of trust and are in authentic relationship with their teacher. She feels very fortunate to be able help others to communicate more consciously to share their love of, and belief in, Yoga. Here is what past participants have had to say about Lucy’s workshops… “I attended Lucy's Conscious Communication Skills workshop at The Yoga Institute in 2018. I feel so lucky to have been guided by Lucy as it was an amazingly transformative experience. I've always struggled with confidence and speaking in public but under Lucy's non-judgmental care and guidance I was able to be braver than I ever thought possible. She also helped to bring more awareness to my communication habits so that I could start to explore communication from a place of greater consciousness. Thank you Lucy! ❤️” Tanya, Sydney, 2018 "I appreciate you sharing your overwhelming wealth of knowledge (wow what an amazing journey you have had!). I feel like this class is exactly what I needed at this moment, and honestly, I wish I would have had it at the beginning of my yoga teaching. It is often the "how" and "who" of teaching that gives me more anxiety than the "what", but I didn't have adequate language to even ask for help in these areas. I especially loved that you gave such great concrete theme and languaging examples.” Nicole Murdoch, Palm Springs, CA, USA 2019 “Lucy is an incredibly knowledgeable, warm and generous communication expert with decades of experience. Her workshop encouraged me to be vulnerable in a safe space and experiment with new skills, whilst building my confidence to better understand, connect with and give back to my students.” Vivian Castillo, Sydney, 2018
