Description

3pm - 5:15pm. Saturday 17 Feb 2018.

Hosted by Senior Teacher Fiona Hardie, this workshop is being given by two summer visitors to Melbourne: Bernardo Staut, a brazilian yoga and vedic chant teacher, who Fiona has been studying with in Chennai over the last two years, and Ishara De Silva who runs Planatation Villa, an Ayurvedic healing centre in Sri Lanka.

Ishara will share her own experience of transforming her life from a city banker in London to a community developer. After completing her education at some of the best universities in the world, Ishara worked in London for 14yrs as a high flying banker at a young age. Along with a sudden diagnosis of cancer at age of 30, she decided to explore her life and the purpose of it. She shunned western medical treatments and found a cure through Ayurveda and Meditation which changed her life and transformed her into setting up her organisation: Plantation Villa, an award winning centre of healing using ancient vedic principles of Ayurveda, Yoga and Buddhist Teachings. In this talk Ishara will discuss her journey and how she applies her knowledge of buddhist teachings in to her daily life to create a balanced and fulfilling life. She will share her experience of case studies from Plantation Villa. Ishara is the Founding Owner of Plantation Villa and the Principal Trustee of her charity, The Metta Trust. In addition to her centre and charity activities, she counsels patients, acts as a mentor for young women and provides inspirational talks around the world.

For the past two years Bernardo has been studying, teaching yoga and travelling in different countries, facilitating workshops as Plantantion Villa's yoga teacher. He is a qualified vedic chant teacher from the KYM, has studied different styles of yoga, and comes to us fresh from studying Samkhya with Ramaswami Srivatsa, a long term direct student of Krishnamacharya. Bernardo will present a session on the relation between the gunas and yoga practice, in particular focusing on their relevance to healing aspects.

These two visitors will bring a fresh approach, enhancing our personalised perspective to yoga
