At Swadharma we have three amazing teachers who are experienced and have lot of passion towards Yoga.

Erin Halcroft

I have been practicing Yoga since 2002, initially drawn to yoga for its ability to help relieve stress and induce relaxation. After attending a few classes I soon realized that Yoga had a myriad of benefits and I had found my passion, something that would take me where I had never imagined possible.  I decided to become a yoga teacher because I wanted to share the benefits of yoga and help improve the lives of other people.  I was noticing that stress, stress related illnesses and depression have become such a huge epidemic in our society and wanted to give people the tools to overcome these challenges and help them on their journey through life.  To be able to do this is simply amazing.

Over the years I have explored many different styles & areas of Yoga including Hatha, Iyengar, Vinyasa, Purna, Bikram, Meditation, Philosophy & Chanting.  I incorporate my vast knowledge into my classes & classes include the asanas (physical poses) along with pranayama breath work, meditation & philosophy.

During classes I encourage students to leave the worries & cares of daily life at the door & retreat to a sanctuary where they can have some much needed ‘Me’ time.  I encourage my students to honor their bodies & work within their own limitations, encouraging the use of the breath as a tool to help connect with the body. Always offering to modify poses or provide alternative options to meet individual needs and make yoga accessible to as many people as possible.

Yoga has taught me to build a genuine and heartfelt relationship with my inner self and has enhanced my understanding of my true self. Through yoga I have received the gift of freedom and adventure. With this gift I feel that I am closer to my life purpose. I am honoured to be a yoga teacher and my intention is to share the abundance of rich gifts that yoga has to offer with every student. The gifts of yoga are our birthright. I believe that the practice of yoga reveals the true goodness that is within all of us. It is this that will support and nurture us on our lifelong journey.

Teaching Approach

My teaching style employs numerous styles of Hatha Yoga that I have learnt from all the wonderful teachers and gurus that have taken the time to teach me. My teachers have been influenced by the teachings of Donna Farhi, Iyengar, Ashtanga, Bikram, Vinyasa, Tantra, Satyananda and Integral Yoga. These practices and my background in Indian Classical Dance and Education, greatly informs my current teaching.

I encourage my students to listen to their bodies by leading them to develop body awareness and establish a relationship with their breath. My teaching language is designed to influence students to acquire a compassionate and joyful attitude towards themselves and to everything in their lives.

The practice I bring to my classes has a strong focus on Vinyasa flow with attention to the physicality and energetic intent of the asanas. My classes include the practice of Pranayama, Meditation and Relaxation from the very beginning. I believe that a holistic approach to yoga will help guide my students to investigate their true nature and explore their role in our Universe.

I enjoy bringing creativity into my teaching style and as such I am continuously exploring different styles and evolving with my learning and the needs of my students. I strive to use eloquent and clear language when teaching to ensure good understanding of the practices. My experience in teaching kids and adults has showed me that each student learns differently. I feel that it is my responsibility as a yoga teacher to always investigate new ways to present and deliver what I want to share with others.

My inspiration and mission as a yoga teacher is to encourage my students to find their own yoga practice and to ultimately recognise yoga as a way of life.
