Pilates builds strength and flexibility, with an emphasis on lengthening the body and aligning the spine. Pilates focuses on the “core” region of the body which includes the muscles of the abdominals and the lower back. This class will increase postural awareness and is well indicated for the alleviation and prevention of back pain. Not recommended for students with osteoporosis.

RESTORATIVE YOGA with HOT STONES
Classes involve the use of props to sustain supported yoga postures effortlessly for extended periods of time. Classes are held in a nurturing environment and are designed to activate the body’s innate relaxation response while receiving all the wonderful benefits of yoga postures such as backbends, forward bends, twists and inversions. Hot Stones are used for their deeply radiant heating effects, allowing the body to utilize the energy from the stones to assist in relaxation and healing. Restorative yoga can be practiced by everyone, regardless of age or experience, and can be extremely beneficial as a compliment to an active asana practice, during pregnancy, transition, illness and balance the stresses of daily life.

SIVANANDA YOGA
Sivananda yoga regards the body as a vehicle for the soul on its journey towards perfection. The physical postures (asanas) develop not only the body, they also broaden the mental faculties and the spiritual capacities. The body is as young as it is flexible. By maintaining the spine’s flexibility and strength through asana, circulation is increased and the nerves are supplied with nutrients and oxygen. Practice begins with sun salutations, then progresses through the 12 basic postures which brings out the essence of this wonderful system. Sivananda yoga is summarized into 5 principles which are easy to understand and easy to include in daily life: Proper Exercise; Proper Breathing; Proper Relaxation; Proper Diet; Positive Thinking & Meditation.

SVAROOPA® YOGA
Known for its compassionate approach to profoundly healing and transforming the body and mind. Using deceptively simple poses it is an accessible practice for the hesitant new student and radical for the seasoned yogi. It differs greatly from other styles of yoga and exercise programs. Using props, precise alignments, and hands-on adjustments each pose releases the core tensions along the spine. This unique style of yoga gives one the ability to successfully move in our fast pace modern world while maintaining a sense of self and well being.

VINYASA YOGA
Flow into grace with this fusion of breath and movement. In this active practice, physical poses are held for shorter periods of time and connected to each other with sun salutations and breath creating the ?flow? aspect of this yoga practice. Class is dynamic and moving with warm-up, active, and final relaxation poses.

YIN YANG YOGA
This yoga style balances Yin and Yang energies of the body. During the Yin portion of the practice, long-held floor poses are practiced to open the connective tissues of the body for more flexibility. This mindful approach cultivates Yin qualities such as acceptance, receptiveness, and stillness. Stronger Yang poses such as standing balance, warrior sequence, and vinyasa flow will finish the practice to strengthen and invigorate mind, body & soul. The class may include a short meditation.
