Barefoot Movement’s Flow Yoga Teacher Training (formerly, Yoga Immersion!) is a program that was developed by the students’ request. Students of Leah approached her with the idea, they were interested in becoming instructors. Since then Leah asked Carrie to help out, it was a natural extension of the program since Leah and Carrie’s styles and talents are so complimentary. One of the strengths of the FYTT program is the more intimate nature of the program.
Class size is limited to 20 participants. We realize that there is a variety of strengths and abilities among the students, and structure is provided to motivate and encourage all of students while opportunities are made available to those who are ready to do more than the minimum required.FYTT is affiliated with the Downtown Oakland YMCA, where both Leah and Carrie teach on a regular basis.
This mutually beneficial relationship provides additional classes to the YMCA members while providing additional teaching opportunities to the FYTT participants.
You do not need to be a YMCA member to enroll in the FYTT program.Although the majority of the classes are led by Leah Gillman, Carrie leads a handful, and another handful are led by guest instructors.Students participate in the FYTT program for many different reasons. Some because they are hoping to launch full-time careers in the yoga ‘industry’, some for personal growth, while others enroll to enhance their ability to give the gifts of yoga to their family, friends, and to communities that would benefit from yoga classes but do not have access.FYTT is excited about connecting its certified graduates with people and organizations that are addressing under-served communities.
If you know of a place that could benefit from a FYTT graduate’s teaching, please send an email!
